March Madness

Yeah...No...It's Not What You Think!
For me, March is the equivalent to playing Russian roulette with my sanity. I never know which day is the day I’ve just had enough. My patience has worn thin, I’m praying for Spring break every time a student, colleague, or administration gets on my nerves, and I fight with myself about not taking another day off.
March feels like a test. A test in endurance. A test in stamina. A test in being quiet. And most importantly, a test in not quitting my job. Most days I wake up and want to quit just so I can sleep longer. (If you follow my Instagram handle you’ve probably have seen a night thought exactly like that.) And as if I already don’t get enough sleep. We LOSE an hour due to daylight savings. 1 hour can determine my crankiness for the day. 1 hour more of sleep - less cranky. 1 hour less… well you get the idea.

As a teacher, March is just plain hard.
1. Teachers have no days off - not one measly day. The days just keep on going.
2. Testing grade teachers are in the home stretch for trying to get students as prepared as they possibly can before the exam in a few weeks.
3. Administration is everywhere doing drive bys, excuse me, “observations.”
4. We are LITERALLY LIVING for Spring Break.
But to be fair, there are some decent things that happen when March rolls around.
1. We, teachers, can look forward to 70 days or less of school!!

…
Honestly, that was the only thing I could think of for this month. It appears that there are more cons than pros. March is generally one of those busy months that just tries to slowly strangle the alertness out of me. By the time March is over it feels as though I am just muddling through.
After Spring Break, it seems to just all go downhill. Spring Break is the last official break of the school year and then we just wait for the scattered days off until Summer Break.
Edit-
How much crazier could March get!
Now it appears to be March Madness for everyone. The Coronavirus is causing schools and businesses to either shut down or adjust their working schedules so people can stay safe. One thing this virus has shown me is that the world ISN’T prepared for much of anything. It’s a nice idea, that we’re ready in our minds, but our execution is seriously lacking. But seriously people...
Stay safe. WASH YO HANDS!
